First Night Down @ $104 DoNs…

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 8:30 am

I played 2 sets of 8 games, totaling 16.  I won 3 of 8 the first set and 5 of 8 the second set.  So, even though I broke even, I lost $64.00 due to rake.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get any in tonight, but definitely some over the weekend.

Thinking about taking a crack at the $104 DoNs

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 10:16 am

That’s right!  I’m thinking about doing the $104 DoNs.  I’ve only done 13 in my career and won 6 of 13…  That was MONTHs ago, so who knows.  Plus, 13 games doesn’t tell anything…

I’ve been playing the $52 DoNs now for six months and the BR has increased steadily.  I think I will try to do the $104 DoNs with the understanding that I drop back down to $52 DoNs if I lose $1,000.  This will still leave me with plenty of BR for the $52 DoNs, as I do not have 100xBI for the $104 DoNs.

Wish me luck!!!

Nothing really new in the last few months.

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 10:54 am

I did play a $4.40 180-man tournament two days ago for a Last-Longest bet.  I lastest the longest out of 5 people that were in on the bet and also won the tournament!!!  That’s my first time taking down a tournament of 180+ people…

I’m still grinding out the Double Or Nothings at the $52 level…

Half way through June…

I am running at about 10% ROI at the $52 DoNs currently, for this month.  I’m not getting much volume in, but I am pretty close to being on track for GoldStar status at the end of the month.  I may try for Platinum status next month.

Long time since last post.

Sorry about that.

I guess I’ll do the cliff notes version.

Last post was my best day in poker. The very next day I lost $464 in 32 games. So, that sucked…
After that, I won another $732 (which includes a loss of $288 on the last day of April…)

May, I continued the crap that I ended with on the last day of April. I lost a total of $733 in the first 8 days of May (only 91 games played). I then decided to take a break for a few days. After which, my mother-in-law arrived for about a 10 day vacation. I then got back into playing poker and finished the month of May with 171 games played and wound up with a profit of $306.50!!! The last day that I played was May 28, where I won my first perfect set of 8 at the $52 tables!!!

June 2 was the first day I played in June since I went to the dentist on June 1 and didn’t feel like doing anything that day. I lost… Holdem Manager reports I should have only lost the rake due to bad beats. I lost $248. Not horrible, since it was over 24 games, but still…

I had GoldStar status in May, but since I didn’t play much due to the break in play, I dropped to SilverStar status. Unless I have a couple more days in a row like yesterday, I plan on being GoldStar again this month. I would like a profit of $1,500 this month, but time will tell… I would love to be able to get that in about 500 games played, but I have a feeling that it would take over 600 games…

Best day at the DoNs!!!

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 7:09 am

I won $632 at the $50 DoNs yesterday!  Wow!  I don’t think I will be repeating that performance anytime soon…

I only played 34 games so that is an average of $18.59 profit per game :)

I had also won a combined $100 on Friday and Saturday and lost $45 at a buddies house in poker & a pool game.  All in all, a very good weekend for me.  This sure does turn around the start of the month at 100NL :)

So much for 100NL

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 7:32 am

I gave up.  I lost $421.30 at the tables before throwing in the towel.  At least half of that was losing with AA.  I have gone back to the Double or Nothings and have won all but $1.30 of my losses back.  I am running really good right now and hope to keep at it.  It would be awesome to finish ahead by $500 at the end of the month.  We’ll see.  Right now I am on track to being GoldStar status for the first time…

April 6, 2009

April has started and I have a change of plans.

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 12:14 pm

I played in the Shootout SCOOP and played pretty well. I went all-in against the chipleader on a 70/30 chance and lost. If I had won, we would have switched positions :( Oh well…

That has been the only tournament that I have played in April and don’t plan on playing any others. I am going to give Ring games a shot since I have the bankroll now. I played 50NL on Friday and won just shy of $100. I then upgraded my HEM and played 100NL on Saturday… I lost about $125… Then Sunday I play and lose another $145 in the first session. I take a break and do some things around the house. I come back and nail it for $80 & $105 in the next two sessions :) I am only up $10 for the weekend, but I earned 1,000 VPP :P

I really have no idea where I will be at the end of the month. I hope that I am a winner at this level, but putting in the hands is the only way to find out. I put in 3,000 hands over the weekend. I hope to have around 25,000 hands put in by the end of the month. I think that is a doable goal. It would also make me a PlatinumStar status…

April Goals

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 7:30 am

My goals for April are:

  • Move up to GoldStar status.
  • Continue at $50 Double or Nothings.
  • Profit $1,000 in poker.
  • Release my $250 deposit bonus.

I only profited $431 in February and $389 in March (I don’t think I will have time to play any more this month). I played 73 out of 413 tournaments at the $50 level. My goal is to continue at the $50 level throughout April. If I play 300 tournaments at this level, I will get GoldStar and release my bonus.

After about 200 $50 DoNs, I make $25 an hour. I make about $10 an hour at the $20 DoNs… It’s a no-brainer if I am able to sustain this hourly rate. 200 tournaments, however is too small of a sample size.

Other news…

I went to Colorado and did some snow-skiing this month. It was a blast. However, on my way home, I found out that my uncle had passed on and they had buried him the day before. He was a great guy and went out of his way to accommodate you everyone that he could… Cancer is a sick disease…

February 23, 2009

I haven’t been playing poker much lately.

Filed under: Poker — admin @ 10:23 am

My goals for February were:

  • Keep SilverStar status. (Not going to happen, as I only have about 500-600 VPP this month)
  • Profit $750 in poker. (I am hoping this happens. I am at a profit of $600 so far)
  • Release my $150 deposit bonus. (Doubtful.  I would have to play about 3 hours a day for four days straight.  Easily doable, but probably won’t happen)

I hosted a home game yesterday and won them both.  8-man tourneys :)

I ran hot this weekend in the DoNs.  Currently am at the 2nd most profitable month for tournament play, even though I have only played 168 games.

About 10 days ago my computer got a virus that shut down my system.  I went ahead and used it as an excuse to get a new computer (it was 5 years old) and am now running two monitors.  I have upped the number of tables played in a set to 8 tables.  I am running way too hot to make any judgments to my playing so far.  Maybe another week or so.
